POTS stands for "plain old telephone service" and refers to the voice-grade telephone service that is based on analog signal transmission. POTS phone lines utilize copper wires that deliver reliable audio and power to standard analog phones, but provide limited functionality, low bandwidth, and no mobile capabilities.
- ShoreTel recommends that customers use POTS lines for fax machines because VoIP is not a suitable environment for faxing. For more information about our faxing solutions, see our Fax article.
- Also see the POTS wiki page for more information.
